I love
swimming. I’m a regular water baby. I love the beach.
But somehow, due to some
reason, the ocean scares me. It’s big. It’s vast. It’s deep, and if you’re in
it, there’s nowhere you can hold on to, no way you can “rest” for a short
while. Of course, not to mention the myriad of strange creatures that live in
the ocean.
frill shark |
Sharks. Rays.
Imma eat you with a dash of salt and pepper |
Portuguese Man-of-Wars (or is it Portuguese Men-of-War??). All those deep-sea
creatures we’ve not yet discovered.
blob fish (happy nightmares) |
Giant squids. Octopuses. Whales. And big
waves which push you down. Strong currents that drag you away.
It’s just too
vast, scary, deep, undiscovered and inhabited.
Well, I’m a land animal, biologically speaking, so I guess I won’t have to
worry about these scenarios too much. I do think about what would happen if my
airplane falls into the ocean…? That’s a nightmare I get sometimes before a
potential overseas trip.
Today's prompt: The thing(s) you're most afraid of
I think that photo of the Blop Fish is going to haunt my dreams now!
ReplyDeleteThat was its original intention ;)

I come from the opposite side. I love the ocean for all the reasons you dislike it. It is one giant adventure to me.
ReplyDeleteReading about aquatic life is fascinating. Marine biology is intriguing. But I'd rather not be in the ocean, I'm content with watching it from afar!
DeleteI am fascinated by the ocean, but at the same time I completely agree with you. The strength and power of it is overwhelming, and definitely scary.
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating when it's in a book, or in a documentary...but not when it's all around me :D
DeleteI have never seen a frill shark before, it's not got a good look going on!
ReplyDeleteRachel x
It looks rather prehistoric, doesn't it?
DeleteI like the ocean and I like swimming in it, but only when I can see the bottom haha
ReplyDeleteMy husband is terrified of the ocean, too. He thinks he's going to get eaten by a shark or something. But he's fine with lakes. :-)
ReplyDeleteNow I'm even more scared :(
ReplyDeleteOh, awww! Sorry ;)
DeleteAgreed. Age 12 I went kayaking in the ocean to see the sea gulls. Most terrifying thing ever. The tour guide was crazy and couldn't understand why I was crying scared.
ReplyDeleteWell, I wasn't really afraid of the ocean (although when I do go further out I do wonder what's down below!). But now seeing these creatures - especially that Frill Shark (never ever heard of that) - I think I'll be terrified next time we are at the coast! Thanks for that ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome ;)
DeleteOMG I have this picture that tries to demonstrate the depth of the ocean :o it is one of the most scariest things I've seen in a while :o
